Object: To analyze the influence of DAT (dopamine transporter) hypoexpression in the taste-to-nutrition suitability. Method: 20 DATIREScre heterozygous and littermates wild type controls were tested with series of taste behavior assays, also western blot was applied to measure the DAT expression in different brain regions. Results: Compared with the littermate control, heterozygous mice showed normal taste and nutrition sensation and preference; however, they expressed abnormalities when the taste and post-ingestive nutrition were mismatched. Conclusion: Dopamine information is necessary for coding nutrition valances. DAT hypoexpression interferes the nutritional sensing. This may be the potential mechanism of anorexia in the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
